Stroke Update 2009: Diagnosis and Stroke Imaging
Lee Seung-Hoon

Abstract
Brain imaging is critical to diagnose stroke in acute stage as well as in chronic stage. The ability to use physiologic imaging with either magnetic resonance or computed tomography to help define irreversibly injured brain and tissue at risk of infarct holds great promise in the future treatment of stroke. Although progress on stroke imaging was not very noticeable in 2008, some studies deserve to be worthy of note. In this review, several points on stroke imaging will be discussed. For convenience, I classified the text into 1) asymptomatic cerebral lesions, 2) acute stroke imaging, and 3) vascular imaging.
